The Story of Peninah

When Peninah first arrived at our Child Rescue Centre, she was a small, fragile girl struggling with the effects of severe malnutrition. Her eyes told a story of exhaustion and loss; her body lacked the strength every child needs simply to play and learn. Our staff welcomed her with warmth and immediate medical and nutritional care, knowing that the road to recovery would take patience and love.
Day by day, Peninah began to regain her strength. With proper meals, medical attention and the gentle encouragement of our teachers and caregivers, her cheeks filled out, her smile returned and her curiosity blossomed. She discovered the joy of learning in our classrooms and the freedom of playing alongside other children who had once shared similar hardships.
Today Peninah is a vibrant, energetic young girl. She is thriving in her studies, joining in sports and singing during morning devotions. Her transformation is a living testimony of what can happen when a child is given safety, nourishment and the opportunity to flourish.

Peninah’s story embodies the mission of our centre: to rescue, restore and empower children so that their pasts no longer determine their future.
